Study Visa's apply to International students that have been accepted Into a full-time course at an educational institution in Australia. If the student is under 18 years of age, a student guardian visa is also available for family members, or nominated guardians to be responsible for the welfare of the student visa holder if under 18 years of age.

Subclass 500

The Student Visa Subclass 500 allows you to stay in Australia to study full-time in a recognized education institution.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must have:

  • Been accepted to study in a registered full-time course at an educational institution in Australia.
  • Have organised appropriate welfare and accommodation arrangements for th duration of your intended stay in Australia if you are under 18 years of age.
  • Proficiency in the English language with evidence to support your English skills.
  • The financial capacity (and show evidence) to support your course fees, travel and living costs whilst you are in Australia.
  • Adequate health insurance whilst you are in Australia.
  • Met the health requirements.

Student Guardian Visa
Subclass 590

The Student Guardian Visa Subclass 590 allows you to stay in Australia as the guardian of an international student under 18 years of age studying on a student visa.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must have:

  • Be a parent or person who has custody of the student, or a relative who is 21 years or older and has been nominated in writing by a parent or someone who has custody of the student.
  • Not bring family members younger than 6 years of age, except under certain circumstances.
  • Be able to provide accommodation, general welfare and other support to the student unless you are applying for this visa with the support of the government of your home country.
