and Investment (Provisional)
Visa Subclass 188

This visa allows you to own and manage a business in Australia (the Business Innovation stream), conduct business and investment activity in Australia (the Investor stream, the Significant Investor stream and the Premium Investor stream) or undertake an entrepreneurial activity in Australia (Entrepreneur stream).

Eligibility

You might be able to get this visa if you are nominated by a state or territory government or Australian agency and are invited to apply by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection.

Business Innovation
and Investment (Permanent)
Visa Subclass 888

This visa allows you to continue to own and manage a business in Australia (the Business Innovation stream), continue business and investment activity in Australia (the Investor stream, the Significant Investor stream and the Premium Investor stream) or continue entrepreneurial activity in Australia (Entrepreneur stream).

Eligibility

You might be able to get this visa if you are nominated by
Visa Subclass 888 hold a provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) and have met the requirements of that visa in the stream in which you first applied

Or

hold a Special Category visa (subclass 444) and have met the requirements of the business innovation stream.

Investor
Visa Subclass 891

This visa is for someone in Australia who needs to either care for a relative in Australia with a long-term or permanent medical condition or assist a relative providing this care to a member of their family unit with a long-term or permanent medical condition.

Eligibility

You might be eligible for this visa if:

  • you have a relative in Australia who needs assistance due to a long-term or permanent medical condition.
  • your relative has arranged an assessment with Bupa Medical Visa Services.
  • there is no one else in Australia who can provide the care or assistance.
  • you are willing and able to assist your relative.
  • you are sponsored by your relative or their partner.

Visa Subclass 893

This is a permanent residence visa. You will be able to travel in and out of Australia for five years.

Eligibility

You might be able to get this visa if you hold a:

  • State/Territory Sponsored Investor (provisional) (subclass 165) visa
  • have held a designated investment of AUD750 000 in Australia for four years.

Business Owner
Visa Subclass 890

This visa is for people who own and manage a business in Australia. It allows you to stay in Australia indefinitely. To apply as a primary applicant, you must have a qualifying visa granted on a particular basis.

With this visa, you are able to:

  • continue to own and operate a business in Australia
  • sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
  • apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible

Eligibility

  • hold an eligible visa
  • have lived in Australian on that visa for at least 12 months in the 2 years immediately before the application is made while holding this visa
  • have owned and operated a business in Australia for at least 2 years immediately before the application is made
  • meet the assets and employees requirement

Business Talent (Permanent)
Visa Subclass 132

This visa allows you to establish a new or develop an existing business in Australia.

There are two streams available for this visa:

Significant Business History Scheme

This visa is for experienced business owners, to operate a new or existing business in Australia.

For this stream you must have:

  • a net value of at least AUD1.5 million (lawfully acquired)
  • an annual business turnover of at least AUD3 million for at least 2 of the 4 fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply
  • a total net assets of at least AUD400,000 as the ownership interest in one or more qualifying businesses for least 2 of the 4 fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply

Venture Capital Entrepreneur Scheme

This visa is for people who have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Investment Council (AIC) (formerly known as the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL)).

For this stream you must have:

  • You must have funding of at least AUD1 million from an Australian venture capital firm.

Visa Subclass 892

This visa is for people who own and manage a business in Australia. It allows you to stay in Australia indefinitely. To apply as a primary applicant, you must have a qualifying visa granted on a particular basis.

With this visa, you can

  • continue to own and operate a business in Australia
  • sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
  • apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible

You must

  • hold an eligible visa
  • have lived in Australian on that visa for at least 12 months in the 2 years immediately before the application is made while holding this visa
  • have owned and operated a business in Australia for at least 2 years immediately before the application is made
